Blockchain Forensics for
Cryptocurrency Investigations

Blockchain transactions leave a record. Decyfr helps determine what that record can tell you.

We investigate cryptocurrency fraud, theft and suspicious digital asset activity through transaction tracing, wallet analysis, intelligence development and forensic reporting.

What Is Blockchain Forensics?

Blockchain forensics is the investigation of cryptocurrency transactions. Tracing how funds moved, which wallets were involved, and what the available evidence can establish. Decyfr’s investigators combine forensic tools with blockchain analysis to build a clear, evidence-based account of what happened.

When the Transaction Trail Needs Answers

Cryptocurrency can move quickly across wallets, platforms and blockchain networks. Transactions may be visible, but the full sequence is rarely clear from one wallet address or transaction hash.

Decyfr brings those data points together to investigate what happened, how assets moved and what the available evidence may support.

Fraud & Scams

Investigate cryptocurrency transferred as part of suspected fraud or deception.

Theft & Unauthorised Transfers

Examine digital assets moved without the owner’s authorisation.

Complex Transaction Trails

Reconstruct movements across multiple wallets, services or platforms.

Wallet & Counterparty Activity

Examine relationships that require further investigation.

Evidence Development

Turn existing findings into a structured investigative record for possible further action.

We don’t assume who controls a wallet or whether assets can be recovered.

We establish what the evidence can support.

Typical Information
We Analyse

The starting point depends on the matter, but useful investigative information may include:

Transaction Hashes · Wallet Addresses · Exchange Information · Bank or Payment Records · Relevant Communications · Platform Records · Open-Source Intelligence · Device or Account Information

Not every investigation requires every source. Decyfr works from the information relevant to the matter.

From Transaction Data
to Investigative Findings

Blockchain forensics isn’t just about following funds from one address to another.

A useful investigation connects transaction activity, wallet relationships and available intelligence into a clear account of what happened.

Decyfr structures that work across five stages:

Assess → Investigate → Develop Intelligence → Report → Escalate

Trace the Movement

Blockchain Transaction Tracing

Decyfr traces relevant cryptocurrency transactions to understand how digital assets moved after the initial transfer.

This can help identify:

Wallet Connections

Addresses linked through relevant transaction activity.

Asset Flows

How funds moved through subsequent transactions.

Service Interactions

Movement through identifiable exchanges, platforms or other services.

Investigative Leads

Points in the transaction trail that may justify deeper analysis.

Build the Intelligence Around It

Blockchain data shows activity. Intelligence helps give that activity context.

Decyfr examines wallet behaviour, connected addresses, transaction relationships and available supporting information to understand how relevant activity fits together.

Wallet & Entity Analysis

Wallet analysis can reveal patterns, relationships and potential counterparties within the transaction trail.

Where the available intelligence supports it, Decyfr may develop wallet or entity attribution.

A blockchain address doesn’t automatically identify the person controlling it, so attribution is never treated as conclusive unless the evidence supports that conclusion.

Asset Movement Analysis

Decyfr also develops a chronology of how relevant assets moved through the investigated period.

This helps turn individual transactions into a clearer picture of the activity being investigated.

Turn the Investigation Into a Usable Report

Tracing is only useful if the findings can be understood beyond the investigation itself.

Decyfr brings the relevant analysis, evidence and intelligence into a structured forensic report.

Scope
What was investigated and why.

Chronology
Relevant events and transaction sequence.

Transaction Analysis
How the investigated assets moved.

Wallet & Entity Findings
Relevant relationships and intelligence-supported attribution.

Key Findings
What the investigation can reasonably establish.

Next-Step Considerations
Areas requiring further investigation or possible escalation.

What the Blockchain Can and Cannot Tell You

Blockchain forensics can reveal transaction activity, wallet relationships, asset movements and, where supported by available intelligence, relevant services or entities.

It cannot guarantee:

Identity

That every wallet can be conclusively linked to an individual.

Attribution

That every transaction trail leads to a known entity.

Co-operation

That a platform, service or jurisdiction will provide additional information.

Recovery

That investigated assets can be frozen or recovered.

Enforcement

That an investigation will result in legal or regulatory action.

Decyfr’s role is to establish what can reasonably be supported by the available evidence and communicate those findings clearly.

Evidence Before Assumptions.

Clarity Over Hype.

Decyfr follows the evidence, not a predetermined outcome.

That means:

Understand the incident before drawing conclusions.
Trace the available transaction activity.
Test attribution against available intelligence.
Acknowledge where evidence has limits.
Report findings in a way that can be independently understood.

Start With What You Have

You don’t need to know exactly what happened before contacting Decyfr.

If you have experienced cryptocurrency fraud, theft or suspicious digital asset activity, submit the information currently available for confidential assessment.

Transaction hashes, wallet addresses, payment records, dates and relevant communications can all help establish whether there is a meaningful investigative path.
